Not to be picky or anything; but being the Transformers fan that I am, I can't help but to think that they got Rodimus's name from "Rodimus Prime". Either that, or it was a coincidence that they both share the same name.
I don't know much about Transformers, but this one is abou 20 years ago. If the Transformers is older, this name maybe came from that anime.
I'm pretty sure they got Rodimus's name from Transformers. Because I cannot think of any other fictional character who is named Rodimus. Transformers came out in the 80s, whereas Slayers came out in the 90s, a whole decade later.
